Daring Fireball: The Appeal of the MacBook Air

I finally upgraded Jenna’s aging 12” PowerBook or a MacBook Air over Valentines Day.  I’ve been using it for the last day or two though while I set everything up.

So far, it’s pure joy.  The concerns people have about this machine being too slow are overblown.  And the lighter weight, beautiful screen, and perfect keyboard more than make up for whatever sacrifices you might make.

Unless you spend most of your time doing heavy photoshop (I mean hard stuff like fixing up enormous photos; not fiddling with screenshots or whatnot), the Air is more than fast enough for most tasks.  It honestly doesn’t feel any slower that my MacBook Pro, even though I know the specs say it is.

I’ve been wanting a lighter laptop for some time and after playing with this machine for a few days, it is definitely the kind of thing I’ve been jonesing for.  Look for me with my Air coming to coffeeshop near you soon. ;-)
